Sam's story ...
My journey in education began in the English Language Arts classroom, where I had the privilege of working with students at both the high school and middle school levels. It was here that I first encountered the diverse learning needs of students, and I was particularly drawn to supporting those who struggled with reading. This passion led me to pursue a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in reading instruction, deepening my understanding of effective strategies to unlock literacy for every learner.
Following my time in the general education setting, I transitioned into the field of special education, where I've spent the last six years working in a variety of contexts. This experience has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to work closely with students with diverse needs and abilities. It's in special education that I truly found my calling. I am passionate about creating inclusive and supportive learning environments where every student can thrive.
My experiences in the classroom, from teaching writing to supporting struggling readers, have shaped my approach to education. I believe in fostering a friendly and supportive environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and celebrating their successes.
